Kirkdale Housing Co-operative

Kirkdale Housing Co-operative is independent and self-managed organisation that was founded and housed its first tenants in the early 1980’s.

It consists of 53 units, a mixture of one bedroom and two-bedroom flats and family houses.

It is a Registered Social Landlord and a fully mutual co-op; fully mutual means all tenants or prospective tenants are shareholders and all shareholders are tenants, you cannot be one without the other, they are mutually dependent. As a shareholder you are a member of Kirkdale Housing Co-operative. When you sign a tenancy, you will also have to buy a £1 share in KHC and be a shareholder until you leave their property.

Kirkdale Housing Co-operative is regulated by two government bodies: the Regulator of Social Housing and the Financial Service Authority.

There are no profits or dividends paid to shareholders and members cannot be paid or gain financially from the co-op. There is absolutely no right to buy. Kirkdale Housing Co-operative is a non-profit organisation and all income from rents are used to house members and maintain their homes.
